A monument to the legendary Soviet scientist and engineer Andrei Tupolev was unveiled within the capital. The monument was erected in honor of the one centesimal anniversary of the Tupolev Design Bureau at 17 Akademika Tupolev Embankment.
The monument was product of bronze. It’s a sculptural picture of Andrey Tupolev with a drawing rolled up. The monument was put in on a triangular pedestal, with the define of a singular Tu-144 supersonic plane within the background. The opening ceremony of the monument was attended by colleagues and family of the plane designer, representatives of public and scientific organizations, metropolitan and federal authorities.
Andrey Tupolev (1888-1972) — Soviet scientist and plane designer, Physician of Technical Sciences, member of the USSR Academy of Sciences, laureate of many state awards. Beneath his management, greater than 300 varieties of plane had been designed, together with the primary home civil jet Tu-104 and the world’s first supersonic passenger liner Tu-144. Andrey Tupolev introduced up numerous excellent aviation designers, together with Vladimir Petlyakov, Pavel Sukhoi and Mikhail Mil. Since 2018, Moscow Vnukovo Airport has been named after the scientist.
